• Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) Limited is Ghana's premier and only crude oil refinery, commissioned on September 28, 1963 as the Ghanaian Italian Petroleum (GHAIP) Company. The Government of Ghana acquired 100% ownership in April 1977 and renamed it TOR in 1991. TOR operates a 45,000 barrels per stream day (bpsd) Crude Distillation Unit and a 14,000 bpsd Residue Fluid Catalytic Cracking (RFCC) Unit. It is the exclusive producer of Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK) and the sole supplier of premix fuel to Ghana's fishing sector. TOR is situated in Tema, about 24 km east of Accra.
